Basic Histology of the Eye and Accessory Structures
American Academy of Ophthalmology EyeWiki · Optic disc is the axon exit and lacks photoreceptors, producing the blind spot.
Socho hamare eyeball ke piche ek optic nerve hai to jahan par vo attach hoti hai us area par to ye blind spot hona chahiye na?
What this reel claims
The optic disc has no photoreceptors where retinal nerve fibres leave the eye.
With one eye, perception often fills the missing area using the surrounding visual field.
Evidence behind the story
American Academy of Ophthalmology EyeWiki · Optic disc is the axon exit and lacks photoreceptors, producing the blind spot.
Brain · Reviews perceptual filling-in where photoreceptors are absent.
What didn’t fit
The blind spot is not a black coin pasted into vision. Binocular overlap explains much of its invisibility: the fellow eye usually sees the corresponding region. But the one-eye demonstration reveals more. Even without the second eye, people often perceive a continuation of surrounding colour, texture or contour. Researchers call this perceptual filling-in, and the literature warns against reducing it to one “brain guesses” mechanism.
