About

I’m Dev Agarwal, a content creator with a background in video editing. My work has taken me from editing for other people to creating science videos, experimenting with technology, and building things of my own.
That path began in 2024, during the second year of my BSc in Computer Science. I joined an online video-editing cohort, learned the craft, and met people who helped me find my first opportunities. A referral led to an agency job. Three months later, another brought me to Ankur Warikoo’s team, where I started editing social videos and eventually became the lead courses editor at WebVeda.
Alongside that work, I took on freelance projects and learned from the different demands of each one. Editing gave me an education in how ideas reach people: what makes an explanation clear, what holds someone’s attention, and how much the presentation can change the experience.
Choosing to build a career this way changed my relationship with learning. I became more comfortable teaching myself, finding people I could learn from, and putting what I learned to use. That has shaped much of what I’ve done since.
With Dev.Explains, I brought that experience to a longstanding interest in science. Building an audience of my own meant taking responsibility for everything from choosing the subject to deciding how to tell the story. The videos have reached millions of people, giving me both an audience and the confidence to pursue more of my own ideas.
That ambition extends beyond content. I use AI to build small software projects and automations, learning through the problems I want to solve. Entrepreneurship appeals to me for the same reason: the opportunity to take an idea seriously enough to make something of it.
There’s also a side of me that rarely fits into a science video. I love books, travel, and bikes. I’m interested in philosophy, in why people behave the way they do, and in understanding my own habits and choices. Writing gives me room to explore those interests and to share more of the person behind the work.
