Research to reel

How I check
a science story.

A reel has seconds to earn attention. The research behind it does not get the same shortcut.

01 / Subjects

What I cover.

Biology

Creatures, plants, ecosystems and evolution.

Human Body

Perception, anatomy, behaviour and health science.

Astronomy

Planets, stars, exoplanets and cosmology.

Physics

Light, sound, scale, matter and fundamental forces.

Chemistry

Materials, reactions and molecular behaviour.

Earth

Geology, climate, rainforests and mass extinctions.

Technology

Cameras, spacecraft, chips, storage and engineering.

02 / Depth framework

One object. One violation. One sentence.

I find a concrete object, identify the expectation the science violates, then write the smallest honest sentence that makes the explanation worth following.

03 / Validation

The claim has to survive the source.

  1. I split the script into discrete, checkable claims.
  2. I start with primary research and credible institutions.
  3. I retrieve and read every source. A search snippet is not evidence.
  4. I record the exact line or figure that supports the wording.
  5. I require two independent credible sources per published episode.
  6. I route imprecise or unsupported claims to review instead of smoothing them over.

04 / Failure analysis

The misses teach the system.

Neutron Star Matter

A scale comparison can be memorable and still fail if the reference object quietly changes between draft and calculation.

Wood Frog

A biological superpower loses trust when a conditional survival mechanism is rewritten as invulnerability.

Perfect Copy

A hook can be technically polished and still fail when it explains the answer before creating the question.

I want the boundary between evidence, interpretation and wonder to be easy to see.
